Let’s go and talk where we can’t hear each other

Like most, I love to go out and talk with people. And like most, I often do that over a drink. But I just don’t understand when people go to places either so crowded or with music so loud that it’s really hard to hear what the other person is saying.

Shouting

I see this fairly often: a group of people obviously came to some place only to talk — and not to dance, for example — but they have to shout into one another’s ear to be able to communicate. I just don’t get it, or maybe no one wants to be the first to suggest moving some place else.

La méthode

… is usually the kind of place I first think of when going out to have a drink and talk with people.

  1. Well, some people go out not only for talking but also for hunting…
We dont really need to dance but we need to see others dancing and be seen dancing…
It is quite complicated, especially for guys…

  2. Hello, I am Rei from Japan. I’ve read your entry about your experience across tongue cancer. I am very glad to read that you are going very well. My boyfriend also had tongue cancer last year. The treatment he had is very close to yours: He had chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. The doctor removed half of his tongue and the ganglions on the right side of the neck. The treatments seem successful until now. Now the problem is that he has some troubles in speaking English: He cannot pronounce “th-” things like “they”, “there”, and “l-” things like “life”, because his tongue is too short now. I would like to ask you. Don’t you have this kind of problems? If so, please tell me how you are overcoming them.

  3. Hey there, no I don’t have any problems making the sounds you mention. Let’s discuss this by email.

  4. Thank you for your reply. It’s great that you have no problem about that. Is there your email address somewhere on your blog? Or please write to me. (rei7728@yahoo.co.jp) Thank you.
