There is an easer method to record and archive Gmail. You can use a hardware solution to automatically do this task for you. Like the freedom9 Internet content recorder . Simply open and log into your Gmail account, and the icr does the rest. It will log all emails in your inbox, plus it will record any incoming and out going emails to your Gmail account. You can still backup your email to a single file if that is easer for you.

I don’ steal in shops, I don’t see why I should steal on the Internet. Usually laws make thieves not happy, not honest people. And if one day I have a problem because I download GB of linux distro thru torrent, then I will sue people who cut my connection for downloading LEGAL contents.

I am not pro or con Hadopi, I just don’t give a shit about it.

I really don’t see how they’re going to monitor http/newsgroup downloads. And they don’t realize that everything is going to be encrypted after a while, and they will sue people based on some random filenames downloaded on p2p networks. These guys live in the past, and they don’t know it.

Well nice, but what really is needed is a good fast resilient FOSS P2P network that operates mostly anonymous.
An open source serverless implementation of wua.la might be a good start.

Good rebuttal. I used to think Linux Hater had good points, but he’s gone from constructive critiquing to useless slander. He sounds like a scorned lover.

By the way, I just installed Fedora 7 on an IBM Thinkpad, and the amount of diddling to get things working? None! Just a little for the modem, but everything else, sound, USB, suspend, network, WIFI, works. IBM had to install a secret partition with a heavily modified version of Windows, to acheive the same effect. Linux did that without having to eat 3G of my hard drive space for an ‘install image’.

Oh, and it runs really, really nicely too! I just hate the repositories. I wish you could just install software straight from the software vendor. The only gripe I have with Fedora, is the distro’s go out of date too, too quickly. At least with windows, you can still install and run new software for many years. But apart from that, I can’t see any other advantage to running windows.
